Galen Thomas, Executive Pastor of Ministry

I was raised by evangelical Christian parents and was "front and center" for the Jesus People movement at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa!  Baptized as a boy by Chuck Smith at Pirate's Cove in Newport Beach, I learned a deep love and respect for God, His word, the role of the Holy Spirit as our helper, guide and power source, and our need to reach the lost for Jesus. I also fell in love with the local church! I’ve experienced first-hand how God can use people in a great church to bring life and healing during life-storms. I love to tell others about the hope Jesus offers, and intentionally serving and developing leaders is my greatest ministry joy!

I knew Executive Jon Hurst, and when an opportunity to serve with him at The Grove opened up, I called him!  I knew The Grove by its outstanding reputation serving this community and it’s clear God is doing a wonderful thing here.  I and Angelica (my wife of 24 years) and I are thrilled to be on Team Grove!

Fun fact about me: I LOVE Latin culture and the Spanish language and married a Mexican-American. I also love to water and snow ski, and I have a boat (Let me know if you water ski!).

I pray that we will continue to be faithful and healthy as we all are changed by God to reach all people! I pray that each of us will "own" and obey God's command to personally reach our family members, friends, neighbors, and co-workers who haven't met Jesus yet.
