Grove Outreach Treks...

We believe that there is no better way to spend your vacation time than to join a Grove team heading out into the world to love, learn, and serve. You are invited to visit our global partners and see their ministry up close and personal as you offer your own heart and hands to further their work among the lost. And though you will be a great blessing to those you meet, you will probably receive even greater blessing yourself.

Our prayer is that GroveTrek members will be changed by God as they reach all people, and return to us with a greater passion for Christ’s Kingdom.

Central Asia Trek
Dates: July 5-17 (2 Weeks)
Trek type:
• 4-6 adults for missionary kids vacation Bible school
• 3-4 adults with ministry experience for missionary care and visits to our Grove partners
Cost:approximately $3,000
Description: We will be sending out two teams concurrently. The first will focus on the children of missionaries who work in the Tibetan area and the second will focus on encouraging, supporting and loving the parents, our workers and partners to our unreached people group.


Nepal Trek
Dates: July 15-29 (2 Weeks)
Trek type:
• Adults with the ability to walk at least two hours at high altitude
Cost:approximately $3,000
Description: Teaching English to children in a monastery and children’s ministry in a daycare center, supporting and encouraging the work of one of our national partners. Nepal is home to many of our unreached people, the Amdo Tibetan, and less than 3% of the people in Nepal are believers.


Croatia Trek
Dates: July 19-August 7 (three weeks)
Trek type:
• 4-6 active adults
Cost:approximately $2,800
Description: Working in a English and sports camp for 8-12 year-olds. The camp is run by our missionaries in Croatia, the Meekers, and is used year-round by many groups to strengthen and promote Evangelical Christianity.


Uganda Trek
Dates: July 19-August 2 (two weeks)
Trek type:
• Adults and children 12 and over accompanied by parent
Cost:approximately $3,000
Description:: Visit World Vision sponsored children and assist other ministries in Northern Uganda.


Philippines Trek
Dates: October 11-24 (two weeks)
Trek type:
• Adults and children 12 and over accompanied by parent
Cost:approximately $2,500
Description: Joining with Jim and Louie Whelchel’s church in the Philippines, we will be joining their compassion ministry programs. Jim Whelchel is the missions pastor for a 25,000-member church and they both teach at a graduate level Bible College, International Graduate School of Leadership (I.G.S.L.). They serve with CRU (Campus Crusade for Christ) and have recently begun a dynamic church planting movement.


Japan Trek
Dates: June 27-July 12 (two weeks)
Trek type:
• Adults
Cost:approximately $3,000
Description: We will be joining the relief efforts in Sendai, praying for and listening to the stories of survivors of the 2011 tsunami. Less than 2% of the people of Japan are Christians.


Cambodia Trek
Dates:August 16-September 1 (two weeks)
Trek type:
• Adults
Cost:approximately $2,800
Description: We will be visiting Rapha House, an organization that is working with girls who have been rescued from sex trafficking, and visiting with Ralph and Kim Lewis, our partners in Cambodia.


India Trek
Dates: October 15-26 (two weeks)
Trek type:
• Adults
Cost:approximately $2,500
Description:We will be attending the 15th anniversary celebration for Joshua Vision India, our partners in India. Dr. Vijayam and his wife run a facility for Christian leaders in India, providing biblical and practical training in a variety of trades.


Iloca, Chile Trek
Dates: tentative dates are June 18-29
(these dates may change a day or two depending on cost of airline tickets)
Trek type:
• Active Adults
Cost:approximately $3,200
Description:Continue in the effort of building relationships with the surfing community in Iloca, Chile and build one to two homes for families. We will be supporting the work of our missionaries, the Kallestads and the Standerfers.


El Niño, Mexico
Dates: ongoing weekends through 2012
Trek type:
• Families, couples, singles, small groups
Cost:approximately $100
Description: Beginning in 2012 we will be partnering with Pastor Daniel Nunez of El Niño to plant a church in a new community near Tijuana, Mexico. We will be taking trips to teach, partner in business, help with construction, and build relationships with the community and church leadership within the next year.

Chile Trek
Dates: June 21-July 3 (two weeks)
Trek type:
• Juniors and seniors in high school
Cost:$2,800
Description:We will be going down to Maipú, Chile, which is right outside the capital of Santiago. We will be helping build a church as well as reaching out to the community that the church is being built in. The students will stay with local families who are involved with the church plant and will get to experience the Chilean culture. This trip will impact the people of Chile and it will impact your life, too.


Portland, Oregon Trek
Dates: July 28-August 4 (one week)
Trek type:
• Sophomores, juniors, and seniors in high school
Cost:$525
Description:This year, we have the opportunity to serve in the inner city of Portland, Oregon. Portland has the highest per-capita homelessness in the country. It is a very diverse city with many different personalities and opinions about who God is. We will be serving those who are in need both physically and spiritually. It is our goal to fill their stomachs with foodand their hearts with Christ.


Watts (L.A.) Trek
Dates: June 26-July 1 (one week)
Trek type:
• High school students
Cost:$300
Description:We will be serving with the Powerhouse Church in the projects of Watts. This will be our 5th year partnering with this church. It is our goal to make our students aware of racism and prejudice thoughts many people struggle with to this day. We go to Watts to serve their community by putting on a week-long vacation Bible school. Our goal is to share Christ with the community and let them know the church is there to serve and love them.

San Francisco, CA Trek
Dates: June 18-June 23 (one week)
Trek type:
• Students in 7th and 8th grade
Cost:$450
Description:We will be working in the inner-city of San Francisco serving the poor and homeless in a variety of ways. This is going to be our ninth year serving in San Francisco and we continue to go back because the lives of both our students, and the lives of the people we minister to, are being changed.
