Transformed by Friendships
Grove volunteers were blessed on a recent Tuesday night at the Path of Life Homeless Shelter when a former resident unexpectedly pulled up in his “big rig” as he was passing through Riverside on a recent run from Arizona. Ed made a point to stop by on a “Grove Night” to thank us for all we had done for him while he was staying at the shelter and getting his life back on track.
Ed was persistent. He would take four bus transfers that ended with a two-mile bike ride five days a week to trucking school in Fontana. He came on the Grove van to church every Sunday for over four months and witnessed God’s provision and faithfulness through the love and compassion shown to him by our members in the form of prayer, small provisions, and friendship. Thank you Grove members for your support of the Homeless Ministry. There are many more stories like this one and we hope we can be a part of many more to come.
We would like to invite you to be a part of lives like Ed’s. We are in need of individuals willing to get their van license to transport shelter residents, folks to join us in the Hub on Sunday mornings to have breakfast and make friends, and to help every Tuesday evening when we serve a delicious meal at the emergency shelter and enjoy fellowship together. Teen Leadership Camp
Adults 21 and over are needed to join us from June 29 to July 1 as camp counselors for Teen Leadership Camp. We’ll be taking 40 foster teens from Riverside County to Camp Alpine to participate in High ropes adventure camp and one on one mentoring. Click Here for application and more information.
Sports Day with Group Home Teens
Sundays, June 3 and 24, 3-5 p.m.
Come spend an afternoon with youth from the juvenile court system to play volleyball and basketball or just cheer from the sidelines. It’s a great time to encourage and befriend some pretty tough teenagers who are precious to God. Volunteers needed to provide snacks and drinks!
Game and Dessert Night at King Hall
Friday, May 25, 7-8:30 p.m.
Come out on the last Friday of every month to King Hall for fun, fellowship, and dessert. We'll be using the newly renovated game room at the transitional family shelter to meet and play games with the residents. Bring your favorite dessert to share!
International Students @ The Grove
There are many international students here in Riverside who are signed up and waiting for an American friend. The commitment is just one e-mail or phone call per week and one face to face visit per month. Contact Mike Cain at mccain@isiwebnet.net for more info.
Food Donations Needed for Homeless Outreach
Help provide for members of our church and those in our community. We are currently in need of laundry detergent (powdered only please), and items for our guest chef. Please click here to see the complete list. Your donations can be placed in the brown bin in the hallway of The Grove at any time.

Missionary Car Needed
We have visiting missionaries throughout 2012 that are in need of a vehicle to use while they are here. Whether you would like to permanently donate one, or have an extra while your child is away in college or just sitting for a period of time, any help with transportation for our partners would be appreciated.
Write to your World Vision Sponsored Child
Our children in Uganda are so excited when they hear from you and World Vision has now made this easier to do. You can e-mail a letter to your child through their website! Of course, the children still enjoy an old fashioned letter or package from you too!
