Deaf Ministry

In January 2007, Larry and Sharon Vollmar came to The Grove and attended interpreted hearing worship services. Larry got involved by teaching in the mid week Bible study group. With blessings from The Grove pastoral staff, The Grove Deaf Church was established on October 9, 2009 with ten people in attendance with alternating weekly Worship services in American Sign Language and interpreted hearing worship services. This continued until August 1, 2010 when Deaf Worship became a weekly service.

The goal of Deaf ministry is three-fold:
1) spreading and explaining clear the Gospel of Salvation in the Deaf Community
2) making disciples and use their God-given spiritual gifts
3) Planting new Deaf churches.

Larry was born into a Deaf family in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Graduated from Gallaudet College in 1970 with BA in Math. Married a California gal, Sharon, three days before graduation from college. Retired as classroom teacher in 2004. They have four adult deaf children and seven grandkids. Larry accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord in October, 1973. Now for 38 years as bi-vocational pastor , Larry has ministered to Deaf people, planted 4 deaf churches and trained ministry leaders.
