People begin their search for God from many different places. Maybe you have always had a certain level of respect or reverence for God. You have tried to be a good person and do good things. But now you are beginning to wonder if you have been missing out on a deeper relationship with Him. You question whether or not the good things that you do are enough to make you right with God. You might be angry with God because of something that happened in your past. And now you wonder if he will forgive you for the harsh words and thoughts that you have directed at Him. You might even have been in active rebellion against God, consciously breaking his commandments and engaging in many kinds of blasphemous behaviors.

There is good news for you:

No matter where you are now in your relationship with God, there is a path that leads to restoration, forgiveness, and transformation. This is a faith based process. The benefits that you will enjoy are given freely by God because He loves you. They are not something you can earn. They are given in response to your faith in Jesus.

You probably have lots of questions. That’s good! The more you ask and explore, the more amazing this incredible provision that God has made for you will become. We want to you help find answers to your questions. Even more importantly, we want to help you find a new way to live your life in close relationship with God.

Your first stop on this journey is a class called First Steps. The class meets every Sunday in Room D-5 at 9 AM. No need to call ahead, just come. We will explain what it means to be a Christian, how to develop your relationship with God, things you should know about the Bible, and many other things. We also have a First Steps book that you can pick up at the Book Nook.

If you know that you are ready to begin this journey of faith with God right now you can pray this simple prayer. Pray sincerely, from your heart:

God, I know you are real. I know that you love me and have a plan for my life. I want to follow you instead of my own desires. I have a sin problem that I can’t solve myself. I understand that is why you sent your son Jesus to die, that my sins might be forgiven. I want to receive that gift of forgiveness. I am asking you to help me and to change me. And I am dedicating the rest of my life to following you. These things I ask in Jesus name. Amen.
